Human Anatomy for Artists: The Elements of Form
by Eliot Goldfinger
Kelly's Note: This book is my favorite anatomy book in that it includes specific photographs, diagrams, and even cross sections of muscles, bones, and other anatomical parts at different points along the body.
It clearly shows insertion points and the shapes of the muscles. Diagrams/line drawings are great, but the additions of photos of real people help you see the anatomy under the skin.
I very highly recommend Goldfinger's anatomy book!

One More Book Recommendation:
Sculpture Inside and Out by Malvina Hoffman This book was published in 1939 and is very hard to find. Not only did M. Hoffman meet Rodin and many other famous sculptors, but she is quite an accomplished sculptress herself. The book includes topics such as what is sculpture?; can it be taught?; anatomy, including pictures of profiles of various cultures of people (who have unique skull shapes); gardens and architecture; enlarging and reduction; photography and lighting; studio layout plans; discussions of different mediums from coloring terra-cotta to bronze patination to stone quarries and sculpting; casting from life; moldmaking; original or fake?; and lots of photos of wonderful sculptures from a variety of artists.
