From Paper to Bronze: Sculptors Who Draw

Do you ever wonder what kind of training it takes to become a sculptor? Would you like to know more about what it would be like to model for an artist who is painting your image? Are you curious about processes? Or do you simply just love to look at original art?

If you answered yes, even hesitantly, to any of the above, then by all means, please join me in Austin, Texas, on July 2nd from 6-8 p.m. for the opening of my first 2-person art exhibit titled "From Paper to Bronze: Sculptors Who Draw". You might also enjoy the life drawing demonstration on the evening of July 9th. The show runs through July 28th and features drawings, paintings, sculpture, and educational displays on how fine art is created. If you would like more information about what is happening and when, as well as a preview, please click on the link below:

And, if you would like a personal tour of the exhibit, please contact me by phone or e-mail and we can arrange a time to meet at the gallery.

New Work

One good thing about exhibits: it helps artists actually finish work (although in reality, my collectors do a pretty good job of offering that motivation). Please preview another male figure - this time in a rather challenging pose - by clicking on:

I hope you enjoy the new paintings featured on the link below:

Several were done entirely this year, but some are actually reworked from sketches made in paint in previous years.

Upcoming Exhibits

In August, I will be leaving Texas once again to show my 3-dimensional artwork in the Loveland Sculpture Invitational in Colorado, just one hour north of Denver. The exhibit runs the weekend of August 9-11. I have a limited amount of tickets for the preview party on Friday night. If you would like to be my guest at this event, please contact me soon. Each ticket is good for 2 people. First come, first served.

For more information about all of my exhibits, please visit:

TEACHING:

Sculptural Anatomy

A good model brings so much to the sculpting experience and for this summer's 4-day anatomy workshop that I will be teaching, we have one of my all-time favorite male models, Dave Larson, working with us. Students will sculpt his well-defined runner's form using plastelina on a wire armature. Emphasis is on understanding anatomy and proportion, how to see and how to create what you see. While demonstrations and lectures are a part of the course outline, the majority of each class is spent sculpting. Students of all levels are welcome and individual attention will be given to each student on a daily basis. Workshop dates in Austin, Texas, are July 11-14.

Please visit www.borsheimarts.com/class.htm for more details (including a supply list and tuition information) and then call the Austin Sculpture Center at 512-371-7606 to register.

Have a safe and enjoyable summer. I hope to see you soon.

With kindest regards,
Kelly Borsheim
