The model for this painting was Jessica. Prior to doing this painting, I had read some article in which the artist said he was looking for the essence of his ideas. Essence. Hmmm. Am I doing this without having consciously thought of the word? So I gave myself the assignment in my body crops to see if by showing just a part of the pose, the viewer would be able to fill in the rest of the gesture.
