Original Oil Painting "Dana's Backside"
Nearly every straight man I know loves this view of a woman. One of my friends even went so far as to say, "The butt never seems to grow old and get wrinkly like the rest of our body parts." I guess now that I happen to have been standing where I was, paintbox all ready to go, I can understand the charm of the tush.
The light hitting the rolling forms of the model's bum and torso was especially lovely and this turned out to be a rather fun painting for me. I completed it just before the Christmas holiday in 2005.
This painting flew up to the Seattle area for a juried exhibit titled "UNCLAD 2006 - The Fine Art of the Figure" in 2006.
"Dana's Backside" was painted with burnt umber and titanium white. But I tend to get three colors out of two when I combine glazing afterwards with mixing of the colors done on the spot.
"Dana's Backside" is painted on a gallery-wrapped canvas, with the sides painted to extend the image beyond the front plane. Framing is optional.
