Above right: Pisa is not the only city in Italy to host a leaning tower. Bologna has il Torre Garisenda. |
Bologna, Italia |
Above: Entering Parco della Montagnola (ruins next to the modern construction), Sea Horse and Maiden fountain (dry when I was there), and below: an Italian woman took this image of the artist at work. Below right: painted on-site, original sketch in acrylic on watercolor paper on which the above painting was based.
Above: A scene along Strada Maggiore and a lovely church I passed as I walked with a new friend in search of the church housing the early Michelangelos (Basilica di San Domenico). Below: Del Teatro Anatomico -- a classroom in which corpses were dissected for anatomy studies; Center and right: Basilica di San Domenico. Father Tarcisio gave me a personal tour of the museum and rooms behind the altar. I loved this wooden statue -- such detail and life! Right: The sarcophagus of the church's patron saint.
