Here is the detail shot of the little white porcelain container. I find that I really love the detailed work, however, I want to be painterly about it, if I can. So, I threw in the teal splashes of color that you find in the background of the main shelf. Up close I want the paintings to look like paint.

I actually designed this painting for the frame it is in, shown left. A friend of mine alerted me to an Italian friend of hers who restores frames. His dream was to take his business to a new level by moving to New York City. For this reason he was holding a fundraiser and I decided to help out by buying this unrestored frame he had up for sale. He wrapped a random bedsheet over part of the frame as a cushion for my shoulder and I carried the frame home on my bike in Florence, Italy. It looks as if the wood was first painted red and then painted over that with a lovely metallic layer, and then distressed a bit.

The frame sat around in my studio for a while, but eventually I ordered some stretcher bars and bought a piece of primed linen canvas to fit, creating a composition with a little bit of red in it to compliment without overpowering anything.

This painting is priced without the frame, but if you also like the frame shown here, let's talk!

These next three images are me having a little bit of fun with my painting on the way to shipping her off to England for a possible exhibit opportunity. I had to pass the Basilica di Santa Croce, one of my favorite places in all of Firenze [Florence]. The image right was taken with my oil painting resting against the backside of the base for the statue of Dante. Aren't the lions cool? I apologize for the ugly towel in the image, but I wanted to protect the frame from the dirty stone in the city.

The image below left was taken on the side of the church. I tried several different locations because I had had such a problem with glare when I tried to photograph this still life painting in my studio. Here, I also got a kick out of the graffiti, which sadly ruins the lovely place of Michelangelo and Galileo's tombs, among others. And finally, the image below right was taken in front of the Basilica di Santa Croce. Pretty humbling, my little effort, isn't it?

Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm,
Kelly
