"Giambologna's Trees" - Original Pastel Painting
There is a park (Parco Mediceo di Pratolino) just outside of Florence, Italy, which
is home to a huge stone and brick sculpture by Giambologna. The sculpture of a crouching old man created in 1579-1580 is titled Il Colosso dell'Appennino (“The Apennine Colossus”) and
he reigns over the landscape. I spent a lovely afternoon in this park, looking over the ruins and enjoying all the green. Even the drive there from Florence was beautiful.
I wrote about this on my blog - three entries in fact. They are here:
I had arrived later in the afternoon than desired, however, as I was leaving, I passed a row of trees lit by the not-quite-setting sun
and so enjoyed the light that I had to make some art of it.
Thank you for reading.
This painting was created in pastels -- pure pigment -- on a black Firenze-brand paper. Like all of Kelly's pastel and charcoal artworks, this one has been treated with a fixative spray and will ship safely to your home or office.
