Oh Boy! Mirror of Male Nude Figures

The bronze mirror titled "Oh Boy!" is the first time I have created a functional work of art. While I carved stone (my Lips Series) during the day, I worked on the men at night. This bronze composition features five nude males arranged to create a frame around a mirror. This project was great fun and I even signed my name in the lower part of the frame in reverse, such that the reflection in the mirror would read correctly.

The image to your right is the original sculpture in plastilina (an oil-based clay). A mold was made and then the artist cast each wax herself. The wax (shown below) was chased and taken to the bronze foundry for casting. This bronze mirror will makes its debut in Indianapolis on 5 May 2006 at the Franklin Barry Gallery.
