I have always loved the oceans. Water, like fire, has the power to calm or destroy. The creatures of the sea are vast and wonderful and romantically shapely. They are fragile, yet strong. Often friendly, yet somehow always at a distance. I feel a certain sense of awe and peace when I think of marine life - the sculptural corals, the colorful fish, the playful and intelligent mammals, and those graceful and endangered sea turtles.
I am interested in portraying the majesty and the mystery of these exotic creatures and others not of the sea.
I choose to work in stone and bronze. I enjoy the permanence and beauty of these traditional mediums. And I am intrigued by the concept of opposites coexisting - such as the way hard metal or stone exhibits a soft curve.
Many of the pages of the individual sculptures will include some text and images of the work as it was being created. Thank you for visiting.
