Sculpture of the Human Form

There is nothing so difficult to portray successfully than the human figure. I have been drawing from life since about 1993. All of my paintings are, in a way, studies for sculpture. Sculpting the human form is a very personal experience, especially when working representationally from a live model. There are so many nuances in the shapes we see -- and often take for granted -- everyday. I prefer to work from live models, but have occasionally worked from photos. I am interested in celebrating the beauty of the individual, not the ideal, and often my works are named after the models who inspired them.
